My Own Race:
275 TREVOR STEWART 1ST WCGP PRO II/6TH O/A
"The last race on the two-stroke, it was definitely a special one for me," Pro II winner Trevor Stewart rode an Maxxis/
FMF-backed Yamaha YZ250. "That bike's got me through two seasons now; it's a 2011 so we've got a lot of time on
her! I just got a good start and rode my own race like I always do. I just put my head down and tried to pick off as many
guys as I could from the front row. I made one mistake and washed out."
2 JUSTIN SEEDS 5TH WCGP PRO
"I was second off the start behind [Jeff] Loop and I had a good pace going on," FMF/Maxxis/MSR KX450F-mounted
Justin Seeds said. "I got a little pumped up, but I thought, 'I can push through it.'" Seeds was riding a new bike. "I
haven't tested with it; I haven't done anything so I just had to go out and send it in the race and see how we did. Yorba
was on a mission! We were side by side and I kind of let him go, just let him do his thing and see if I could tag along.
So I ran third for a little bit and I pitted. We were right there in fifth, close to third—del Fante—and Thompson in fourth.
We just kept going, chugging along, and the next thing you know, Blayne pits. I got around him then dirt gets into my
goggles [and his eyes] somehow. Basically, I couldn't see anything. It was just painful so I had to pull off and try to see
if I could wipe my eye and make it break up or go away. When I did that, Blayne got around me."
403 TATUM SIK 1ST WCGP WOMEN PRO/1ST WOMEN EXPERT
MMR/Maxxis/MSR CRF450R-mounted Tatum Sik said, "It went pretty good. I just made some stupid mistakes and
fell, I can't tell you how many times! But other than that, my bike was awesome. It was pretty slippery in the morning so
I was just trying not to do anything too dumb and stay on two wheels. It was a good race." In the WCGP, Sik admitted,
"I was trying to battle with those Pro II guys and then I fell, then I fell again, then my hand guard got stuck in my front
brake [lever] and I fell a million times after that."
First-year Pro
Michael del Fante
gambled and opted
to skip his fuel stop.
The gamble paid off
and he ended up on
the podium in third.
