BLAZUSIAK ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
F
ive-time AMA EndurtoCross
Champion, FIM Indoor
Enduro World Cup Champion,
four-time FIM SuperEnduro
World Champion, X Games gold
medalist and extreme off-road
star Taddy Blazusiak says he's
calling it a career—as you can
see, a very successful one at
that.
Blazusiak, who hails from
Poland, got his career started in
trials. He won the Polish Trials
Championship from 1999-2003
and 2005-2007. He switched to
enduro in 2007 and first made
waves in America that same year
when he arrived in Las Vegas for
his first AMA EnduroCross and
beat then-champ David Knight.
He went on to win the AMA
EnduroCross Championship for
five straight years from 2009 to
2013.
Blazusiak made the an-
nouncement via Instagram: "I
have been thinking about this
decision for a while now," he
wrote. "I have always told myself
that I will make that call when I
feel the time is right. I've been
racing around the world for a
long time. I trained the best and
hardest I could, and I raced for
every race win and champion-
ship I entered like there is no
tomorrow. I achieved more than
I ever thought I could, and I'm
grateful for all the great memo-
ries from all my years of racing.
I want to say thank you to my
family, especially to my brother
Wojciech, for all the hard work
and for being there for me from
the beginning. Thank you also
to my team manager and friend
Alex Doringer, and of course
special thanks to the KTM CEO
Mr. Stefan Pierer and KTM
Motorsport Director Pit Beirer
for the opportunity to chase my
dreams. Thank you to all the
people at KTM Factory Racing
for the best bike out there, and
naturally also a huge thank you
to Red Bull and all my long-term
sponsors. I'm grateful for all the
fans around the world and thank
you for your support—on to the
next adventure."
Blazusiak didn't give a hint
as to what that next adventure
might be.
Recently crowned AMA
EnduroCross Champion Colton
Haaker responded, also via
Instagram: "Thanks for every-
thing you've given to the sport.
You put EnduroCross, Super-
Enduro and extreme enduro
on another level. The last 10
years of you racing and us
competing, I've been a fan and
you've been even a hero to
me. Congrats on an incredible
career and on records that will
never be touched!! You [are a]
legend." CN
Taddy Blazusiak, one of the most
talented off-road racers of all
time, announced his retirement
from professional racing.
