VOL. 53 ISSUE 46 NOVEMBER 22, 2016 P65
Hot Lap session, which deter-
mines the heat-race lineups,
while Haaker had two small
mistakes that held him back
to a 10th-place finish. This put
the two title rivals into the same
heat race and Webb again did
everything he could to keep the
pressure on by taking that heat-
race win and the bonus point.
Two of the young guns of
EnduroCross took the other
two heat race wins. Ty Tremaine
won heat-race two after a great
three-way battle with Ty Cullins
and Max Gerston. That bonus
point would prove critical as he
was locked into a tight battle
with Mike Brown for third in the
championship. And another
youngster, Noah Kepple, took
his first ever Pro heat-race win
in group three over Brown and
Geoff Aaron.
The top two finishers in each
of the three heat races come
back later in the evening to do a
single Hot Lap against the clock,
one at a time, and Webb again
managed to set the fast time,
this one just slightly better than
Haaker but enough to take one
more bonus point and cut the
lead down to 12 leading into the
main event.
Despite the better gate pick
for Webb, Haaker blasted out of
the first turn to take the $500
Nexen Tire Holeshot award and
Haaker (10) lost the race
to Webb, but he'll wear the
number-one plate next year.
