CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "Great commentary from seasoned pros that are actually at the races and not network booth announcers mispronouncing rider names." In The Paddock Michael Scott is my favorite GP writer. I've been around reading about GPs since the '60s and every era since. Tire wars, two- stroke to four-stroke, 800cc, etc. I got used to reading all about it in magazines like Cycle News, and the British magazines my grand- father subscribed to. Back then, I could not imagine being able to watch it all unfold on TV, like how ball sports were shoved into your eye and ear holes at every turn. Technology is great, and because of the still-present prejudice (and exclusivity con- tracts that lock up mar- kets and even internet viewing in said TV broadcast markets), I have been forced to get these series' Video Pass options, with great commentary from seasoned pros that are actually at the races and not network booth announcers mispronouncing rider names. Pros like Mr. Scott, who allowed me to imagine, through his writing, what was go- ing on during a race when the thought of watching it seemed a lifetime away. It makes the TV coverage even better and more special because of those original experi- ences with words and imagination. Thank you, Michael Scott. John A. Stockman I am in favor of "ad- justments" in rules that keep the racing racing, Michael. Ulti- mately this is our rac- ing series, not theirs, so to speak. I'm not so sure that is true for F1, which I think is barely staying away from driv- ing off the cliff. Moving to the common electronics platform was important to encourage smaller makes and privateers to compete and thus attract sponsorship and support. This has been a great [MotoGP] series in 2016, maybe one of the most competi- tive in years. Suzuki is back in, Ducati contin- ues to improve, Aprilia just might be buying a clue, and KTM is hav- ing a fantastic debut at Valencia. I can't wait for 2017 and the impact of the musical chairs/rider moves on the series! Bob Close Savoie Deserving Congratulation to Jerry Savoie for winning the 2016 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Champi- onship! This year's championship was fun to watch with all of the different winners and everything com- ing down to the final showdown at Pomona, and it was great to see Matt Smith finish off the series with a win and Victory getting its first win, too. And a big thanks goes to Cycle News for putting Savoie and the White Alligator on the cover. A well-de- served combination. Michael Manning Haaker Enduro- Cross Champion Way to go, Colton! Not only did he win the AMA EnduroCross Championship but he also won the FIM Su- perEnduro Champion [earlier this year]. AMA Champion and World Champion in the same year. Not bad at all!
