HICKMAN BACK-TO-BACK AT MACAU
P
eter Hickman tallied two
wins at the Macau Motor-
cycle Grand Prix, November
19-20.
Riding for the Bathams
BMW team on a special gold
liveried S 1000 RR, Hickman
got the better of teammate
Michale Rutter by 0.533
seconds to deny the veteran a
record 10th win at the 3.8-mile
Guia circuit, with Martin Jes-
sop on the Riders Motorcycles
BMW S 1000 RR taking third.
The top three were joined
for the majority of the race by
debutant Glen Irwin on the Be
Wiser Ducati Panigale R, the
rookie qualifying an impressive
third on the grid but retiring
with one lap to go while holding
down in fourth place.
"It is one of the hardest races
I've ever done," Hickman told
Motorsport.com. "I had never
even seen the bike I was on until
Thursday morning, which was
really hard, and the last time I
rode a BMW was a year ago. So
it was a steep learning curve but
we managed to do it."
The U.S. was, once again,
represented by Mark Miller on
the Splitlath Motorsports EBR
1190RS, the veteran coming
come in 15th after battling with
Sam West and former Moto3
rider Danny Webb. Miller will
have a special feature on this
incredible motorcycle spectacle
coming soon in Cycle News.
