IN THE WIND P44 BELLINO WINS AUSTRALIAN 4-DAY ENDURO R ockstar Energy Husqvarna's Mathias Bellino came out on top at the end of the Austra- lian Four-Day Enduro. Bellino topped Chris Hollis, who missed out on the win by a mere 12 seconds for second place. De- fending champion Daniel Milner rounded out the podium in third. "It's really good to win here especially in front of guys like Milner, Daniel Sanders and Hollis. So it was good to fight against them," said Bellino. "I'm really happy to get this victory for myself and for the team. "I wasn't sure what to expect; there were not that many tests but they were awesome to ride, especially the fourth one." Former GNCC Champion Shane Watts also participated in the "A4DE" aboard a 125cc two- stroke KTM. The 44-year-old Aussie finished a notable 10th place in the E1 class. Another former GNCC racer, Glenn Kearney, also joined the fray. Kearney piloted his Husqvarna to second in the E1 class behind Yamaha's Josh Green, who topped the E1 class and carded fourth overall. HERLINGS DELIVERS KNOCK OUT PUNCH IN HOLLAND T he Red Bull Knock Out took place on the beaches of Holland, where over 1000 riders took to the shoreline in search of victory. But in the end, it was three-time MX2 World Champion Jeffrey Herlings who emerged victorious. Having won the qualifying race in the morning, Herlings was unstoppable in the final, blasting through the field to victory on the 3.2-mile course on the frigid beach at The Hague in The Neth- erlands. Herlings, already called one of the best sand riders in the world, made history as the first Dutchman to win the Knock Out since Marc De Reuver in 2006. His proved to be a popular win with the crowd. "The track was pretty flat at first, which made it easier for everyone," said Herlings. "When it got rougher, it became more like an MXGP track; I felt more at home and could overtake people. I think this is the hardest beach race in the world. I know when I see my bed to- night, I'll fall asleep immediately." The unique format of the Red Bull Knock Out puts racers on a sandy three-mile course with fast sections and plenty of jumps. After 60 minutes of rac- ing, a new section is added for the last 45 minutes of the race— the X-Loop—that features more jumps and a log section. Despite the off-road-like format, Herlings still dominated, besting Enduro World Champi- onship rider Nathan Watson and KTM Factory Racing's Glenn Coldenhoff, who rounded out the overall podium in second and third, respectively, after a hard-fought battle in the final laps.
