Smith and White Alliga-
tor Suzuki's Jerry Savoie
enjoyed a big day at the season-
ending Auto Club NHRA Finals
at the Auto Club Raceway in
Pomona, California, after Smith
won the race and Savoie was
crowned the 2016 NHRA Mello
Yello Series Pro Stock Motor-
cycle Champion.
Smith earned his 18th career
title, and the first for the Victory
brand in NHRA competition,
when he defeated Star Buell's
Angelle Sampey in the final
round. Smith was able to coast
to the victory after Sampey
fouled at the start. It was Smith's
first win since the end of the
2013 season.
