P114 50 Years Ago November 17, 1966 Our feature cover story was the third running of the U.S. Grand Prix for motor- cycles at Willow Springs Raceway in California. More than 160 entries were filled and James Deehan was one of the stars of the event after winning both the 250cc Grand Prix and Open Production races. Art Baumann won the 350cc Grand Prix class… After a 12-year-hiatus, TT racing returned to Ohio and Dayton Motorcycle Club's Action Track. A new TT king was crowned—Ronnie Hall… We covered a windy and challenging Jackass Enduro in Red Mountain, California. 40 Years Ago November 16, 1976 Roger DeCoster's smiling face was featured on the cover 40 years ago. He had a good reason to be smiling after winning the Trans-AMA round at Saddle- back Park. Brad Lackey was second, and Danny LaPorte won the 250cc support race over Warren Reid… We featured an interview with 22-year-old privateer motocrosser Pat Richter who had just signed with KTM… Debbie Evans became the first woman trials expert in the U.S…. We had part three of our visit to the Honda Suzuka factory… 20 Years Ago November 13, 1996 John Kocinski and Troy Corser's World Superbike Ducatis were pictured in all their glory on the cover 20 years ago. Alan Cathcart got the chance to test them both out… We also tested the all-new Suzuki GSX-R600, which also got a piece of the cover… Arenacross kicked off in Des Moines; Cliff Palmer (125cc) and Chad Pederson (250cc) got things started with the big wins… The final round of the AMA National Enduro Series in Delaware ended in con- troversy and a protest with Steve Hatch taking the win over Rodney Smith and Ty Davis. Doug Polen was the man of the hour after winning both the Interceptor and GSXR750 races. Dan Chivington kept Polen from sweeping the event by winning the GSXR1100 class… Shawn Gerber beat Ron Naylor by just a few feet at the final round of the AMA National Hare & Hound Series in Murphy, Idaho.
