ENDUROCROSS 2016 AMA ENDUROCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 7 / NOVEMBER 5, 2016 FORD IDAHO CENTER / NAMPA, IDAHO P58 Nick Thompson and Cooper Abbott finished 11th and 12th, respectively, and five-time champion Taddy Blazusiak was credited with 13th after another bad night. He ran as high as third early in the race, but the factory-backed KTM rider eventually crashed while running just outside the top five in the main and called it a night. The extreme enduro star from Poland has suffered with crashes and injuries all season. Of the seven races held so far, he's only finished inside the top 10 twice, his best finish a third at the season opener in Atlanta. Going into the final round in Ontario, California, Haaker leads defending champ Webb by 14 points and both are well clear of the third-place rider, Brown, who is just a few points ahead of Tremaine. With his podium finish, Redmond moved up to fifth and is only seven points behind Tremaine. CN 1. Colton Haaker (Hus) 2. Cody Webb (KTM) 3. Kyle Redmond (Bet) 4. Trystan Hart (Hus) 5. Cory Graffunder (KTM) 6. Mike Brown (Hus) 7. Ty Tremaine (KTM) 8. Ty Cullins (Bet) 9. Geoff Aaron (GG) 10. Noah Kepple (KTM) 11. Nick Thompson (KTM) 12. Cooper Abbott (Hus) 13. Taddy Blazusiak (KTM) Canada's Shelby Turner took her sixth win in seven races in the Women's main event riding a KTM. Melissa Harten nearly took her first-ever win but gave up the lead on the last lap. Fortunately the Beta rider still held on for second. Tarah Gieger rounded out the po- dium on her Honda. The former Women's MX star and X Games gold medalist was a crowd favor- ite as she was the only woman to jump over the Pumpkin Pit and the following huge log double. Canadian Shane Cuthbertson made a pass right in front of the fin- ish line to take the Amateur class win over Joshua Bridge. Kevin Dupuis rounded out the podium. In the Vet class, Stephen Foord rode his Beta to the win after a back-and-forth battle with Cuthb- ertson, who, as mentioned, won the Amateur main. Ryan Middle- ton rounded out the Vet class po- dium. Colton Haaker has won five of the seven rounds so far in 2016 and finished second at the other two. Webb has two wins, four sec- onds and one third-place finish so far. The EnduroCross series also awards a bonus point for a heat- race win and one additional bonus point to the rider that sets the fast- est time during the evening Hot Laps, which is contested among the six riders that finish first and second in the three heat races. So far, Haaker has earned 10 bonus points, while Webb has earned seven. Haaker goes into the On- tario, California, final round with a 14-point advantage, so if Webb wins the main in addition to win- ning his heat race and sets the fast Hot Lap, Haaker will only need to finish seventh to take the title away from Webb, the two-time defend- ing champion. Colton Haaker has entered the final round of the EnduroCross Championship with a mathematical chance to win the past two years but never as the points leader. Webb took the 2014 title to de- throne Taddy Blazusiak, who had won five straight AMA EnduroCross Championships, while Haaker was a close third. Webb defended his title in 2015 over Haaker, who was just 11 points down. After his Boise win, Colton Haak- er now has 11 career AMA Endu- roCross main event wins, which is equal with Webb. Taddy Blazu- siak, who dominated the series for five years has an amazing 31 ca- reer wins but has only one podium finish in 2016. The Boise area is home to some well-known industry companies including Rekluse Clutch, Pro Moto Billet and Western Pow- ersports/Fly Racing. All three companies have involvement with EnduroCross and had a heavy presence at the event with local staff. The top three riders all use Rekluse clutches and Haaker is a longtime Fly-backed rider. Pro Moto Billet/Fastway makes the footpegs, suspension linkage and hand guards used by several of the top riders. Briefly...
