IN THE WIND P42 2016 AIMEXPO WRAPS UP T housands of motorcycle enthusi- asts from around the world con- verged on Orlando, Florida's Orange County Convention Center last week for AIMExpo 2016, North America's largest powersports trade show. Nearly 500 exhibitors took advantage of the four-day showcase featuring the latest and greatest products coming to the powersports marketplace, which was highlighted by a large number of both global and North American debuts of new motorcycles, gear and aftermarket products during two exclusive trade days. The weekend welcomed a stream of consumers who came to see the newest products firsthand and also put a wide selection of two-, three- and four-wheeled vehicles to the test at AIMExpo Outdoors! During the expo, it was announced that, not only is the show moving to Columbus, Ohio, next year (September 21-24) but will also move again to Las Vegas in 2018. One of the highlights of this year's AIMExpo was Yamaha introducing its revamped YZF-R6 that pretty much kicked off the show. Yamaha also honored 10 of its racing legends at the show, us- ing the festivities as an oppor- tunity to induct them onto their "Yamaha Wall of Champions." Those inducted were Freddie Spencer, Doug Henry, Randy Hawkins, Thomas Stevens, Jamie James, Mark Burkhart, John Dowd, Jamie Hacking, Tom Kipp and Barry Hawk, and all were in attendance. MotoAmerica used the AIMExpo to celebrate its Night of Champions, as did the AMA to induct its newest Motorcycle Hall of Fame members. Of course, there were plenty of new products on display, way too many to mention here, but some of the things that caught our attention in- cluded Scorpion's Covert Helmet, a versatile 3-in-1 helmet. It's a full, three-quarters and half helmet all rolled into one eye-catching street lid. Sena showed off its new Calvary half helmet prewired with built-in Bluetooth capabilities and controls, and Sidi introduced its all-new Crossfire 3 SRS off-road boots. Even GoPro was on hand to show off its new drone, which is a great way of recording parts of your rides. CN Scorpion's new 3-in-1 helmet was one of the many new products that was introduced at the 2016 AIMExpo.
