honors for the eventual third-
place team. Franke spent most
of the week fending off Spain's
favorite daughter Laia Sanz, who
led the host nation's team to
runner-up, 3:48.67 behind the
Aussies' 7:57:39.29. Germany
was 14:19.79 back of Spain for
third while Team USA settled for
fourth, another 13:52.97 adrift
after Rachel Gutish DNFed on
day four with a broken engine
and banged up knee.
Motocrosser-turned-off-road
racer Tarah Geiger performed
well in her first Six Days, claim-
ing fourth-fastest among all
women, while veteran Nicole
Bradford was ninth in what she
claims will be her final ISDE.
"Motocross is a lot like you
know your line and you just
have to hit it perfect every lap.
[Enduro] is you really have to be
able to adapt and kind of go with
the flow," Geiger observed.
"I've been trying to be pretty
smart on the trail and not go
bashing down the trails but be
smart about it and take my time
to pick the better lines, thinking
about my bike."
CLUB

and Josh Toth moving in behind
them on day two and the Eric
Cleveland Memorial trio of Alex
Dorsey, Broc Hepler and Jimmy
Jarrett sliding into the third spot

In the end, Italy proved
too quick as the Trail Jesters
couldn't cut into Italy's lead,
finishing 5:13.69 back of the
