VOL. 53 ISSUE 40 OCTOBER 11, 2016 P27
2017 KAWASAKI Z1000SX
T
he venerable Kawasaki Z1000SX
will be graced with the Bosch
Inertial Measurement unit (IMU) for
next year, as well as various updates
to the bodywork, seat, and LED
headlights.
The IMU measures the motorcycle
around six axes, giving an incredibly
accurate position of the motorcycle
to the ECU and allowing it to mitigate
traction control and ABS functions.
The Z1000SX is thus the first
motorcycle from Japan in this seg-
ment to receive the device, although
it could be argued it is not the first
touring motorcycle to do so as the KTM 1290 Su-
per Duke GT and Ducati Multistrada 1200 both use
it for their traction and ABS needs.
Word is Kawasaki is going hard in the Z-range
this year, so don't be surprised if a new Z1000
comes out in the coming weeks. CN

Y
es, this is a 2018 model, not 2017, although we
will be getting one in the first quarter of next
year. Confused? We are too.
Anyway, the GSX-S750 hasn't
seen a lot of love from Suzuki of
late, and this is about to change
for next year. The new GSX-S will
be getting new colors, a three-
stage traction control system
and radially mounted four-piston
Nissin calipers, although the sus-
pension will be box-stock with
preload adjustment only at the
front and rear of the bike.
The GSX-S will be avail-
able in black and blue color
schemes and ABS or non-ABS
versions. It is now available in
all 50 states. CN
