SUPERCROSS
MONSTER ENERGY SMX RIDERS' AND MANUFACTURERS' CUP
OCTOBER 8, 2016
VELTINS ARENA / GELSENKIRCHEN, GERMANY
P60
Billed as "Supermotocross"
seemed to confuse a lot of
people as to what to expect and
especially with it being inside a
stadium, many assumed that the
track would feature whoops and
big jumps, but the reality was
that it was more like a shorter,
tighter MXGP track than a tamed
down supercross.
What isn't surprising though,
Osborne (Husqvarna), Romain
Febvre (Yamaha), Jordi Tixier
(Kawasaki) and Jake Weimer
(Suzuki). The same manufacturer
order was then repeated for all
four of their riders (including a
"joker" rider who's result would
count if needed) so the gate was
a pretty even spread for all the
teams.
The first race saw Gajser
is the fact that whatever circuit
you put that many top quality
riders on, good racing will take
place, and that's exactly what
happened over the course of the
three-moto format.
After winning the Superpole
(a one-lap shootout to lay down
your best lap) it was Honda's Tim
Gajser who took first gate pick
ahead of Herlings (KTM), Zach
MXGP World
Champion Tim
Gajser (243) passed
Dungey en route to
victory in the first of
three motos.
