PRICE WINS, QUINTANILLA
CROWNED IN MOROCCO
T
oby Price took the final stage
win and grand victory at the
OiLibya Rally du Maroc (aka Mo-
rocco Rally) after five grueling
stages of racing. It was a fight
to the finish between Price and
his Red Bull KTM Factory Rally
teammate Sam Sunderland, but
Price's win on the final stage
granted him the victory ahead
of Sunderland. Husqvarna rider
Pablo Quintanilla carded third
while the Yamaha duo Helder
Rodrigues and Xavier De Soul-
trait rounded out the top-five.
The Morocco Rally served
as the final round of the 2016
FIM Cross-Country Rallies
World Championship, and it was
Quintanilla who ended the five-
race series on top. The Chilean
rider used his third-place finish
to claim his first FIM rally world
championship.
"For me this is a dream come
true," Quintanilla exclaimed. "It
is something I have been dream-
ing about for many years, and
with so much passion. Now I am
the new world champion.
"We put in a lot of effort and
hard work during this year. I just
want to thank the team for the
amazing job they did at every
race."
"I had a big fight with Sam
[Sunderland] all week," said
Price. "So it was tough. He put
up a good fight and showed he's
ready for the Dakar. Also a big
congrats to Pablo for the cham-
pionship. Now it's time to move
on and get ready for the big one
in January."
