2017 YAMAHA FZ-10 SP
I
NTERMOT saw the debut of the Ya-
maha FZ-10 SP, a souped-up version
of the bike that took the world by storm
earlier this year.
The hardware of cross-plane crank
engine and bodywork remains the
same, but the SP will be getting Öhlins
semi-active suspension, a quickshifter
and an assist and slipper clutch.
Small improvements to an already
stellar package will put the FZ-10 SP on
the same footing as the Aprilia Tuono
Factory, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R
and the BMW S 1000 R for next year.
The FZ-10 SP is due for release to
the European market in February next
year. We've tried to get an answer from
Yamaha U.S. regarding the SP's arrival
date (if at all) into the States, but have
not yet received a reply. CN
2017 YAMAHA FZ-09
T
he Yamaha FZ-09 will get its first update
next year since being released back in
2013. The cross-plane three-cylinder naked
doesn't get any changes to the engine, with
mainly chassis, styling and color updates
bringing it into line with the recently released
FZ-10.
The suspension has been worked over
with compression and rebound adjustment in
separate fork legs, there's a new assist/slipper
clutch, and a redesigned muffler.
The twin LED lights now resemble
those of the bigger brother FZ-10,
and there are slightly revised radia-
tor fins and front winglets. There
are also small detail changes to the
taillight and seat, with the number
plate hanging over the rear wheel,
ala Ducati Diavel. CN
