"It was amazing. It was one of
those days that I will never ever
forget. Today was a big part of
my career," said Kopp. "The
bike was awesome. I knew it
was pretty good coming in here.
I had never gone heads up with
anybody in all the testing I had
done. Even in practice I was with
a kind of slower group of guys,
so I couldn't judge off them too
much. When I went out in the

and my right eye was fluttering. It
was a distraction. You ride tense
and it makes you tired and you
use more energy.
"Going into turn one there is
a little bit of a bump, or a pretty
big bump where everybody is
coming onto the race track. It
got so gnarly that I was actually
standing up a little bit and literally
jumping into the corner. That's
pretty crazy to be doing at 130
plus miles per hour."
All in all it was an excellent day
for Joe Kopp, as he debuted the
Indian Scout FTR750. Kopp was
able to win the Dash for Cash
before getting the holeshot and
leading lap one of the National.

We stepped up everywhere we
needed to step up. I feel like we
got beat this year on two races
that were goose eggs for us,
Springfield and Sacramento."
All the while the track and
vision were Baker's main chal-
lenges. "Halfway through the
race, my tape that I use to seal
off between my eyes and my
nose guard came undone," said
Baker. "That's what keeps the
dirt and dust from underneath
my helmet and getting into my
eyes. With that coming undone,
I was getting all the crud in my
eyes. It wasn't so bad because I
