mate Stefan Bradl before half
distance, and giving Pol Espar-
garo a hard time before dropping
away towards the finish.
Dovizioso found little con-
solation as top Ducati in 11th,
describing his afternoon as "a
disaster." He was two seconds
ahead of temporary teammate
Michele Pirro, standing in for
Iannone.
Hector Barbera (Avintia Duca-
ti) eventually triumphed in a lively
battle for the last points, eventu-
ally outpacing Eugene Laverty
(Aspar Ducati) and Nicky Hayden
(EG-VDS Honda), whose one-
race ride in place of Jack Miller
earned him one point. He had
gained speed and enjoyment
radically over the weekend, and
said, "I wish it was like super-
bikes and there was another
raceā¦but I guess everybody
thinks that."
The trio had passed and
dropped Yonny Hernandez (As-
par Ducati).
Miles behind, Danilo Petrucci
(Pramac Ducati) was 17th after
a ride-through penalty, earned
when he had tagged teammate
Scott Redding on the first lap.
An angry Redding had crashed
and remounted for 19th behind
Loris Baz (Avintia Ducati). Tito
Rabat (EG-VDS Honda) battled
with Hayden, and got ahead
when he crashed out.
Marquez's 54th career win put
him equal in the record books at
fifth overall with Mick Doohan,
behind Agostini, Rossi, Nieto
and Hailwood while his resump-
tion of business as usual extend-
ed his points lead to more than
two races, 248 to Rossi's 196.
Lorenzo (182) also drew closer in
the battle for second. Pedrosa,
at 155, is coming under increas-
ing threat from Vinales (149).
Nicky Hayden (69) got called up
to ride the injured Jake Miller's
Honda and rode well, scoring a
single point at the end.
