FIM MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS
SEPTEMBER 24-25, 2016
MAGGIORA PARK / MAGGIORA, ITALY
P54
gate pick for the A finals, their
worst placing in recent history.
Meanwhile, defending cham-
pions France were looking very
strong, with Romain Febvre win-
ning the MXGP qualifier, Gautier
Paulin coming second in the
Open and Benoit Paturel third
in the MX2. Belgium would take
second gate pick, The Nether-
lands third with Switzerland and
all Anderson had to do was get
a reasonable finish in his race
and things would still be ok for
Sunday. Unfortunately a collision
in the first turn saw him at the
back of the pack and also, more
worryingly a suspected broken
foot. He battled onwards and
charged his way all the way up
to 14th position, giving the USA
23 points overall and 15th/35th
end up in the B-final. Webb was
running a decent fourth before a
crash left him unable to start his
bike. Eventually he got it going
again in 30th but the damage
was done and his 18th place
was actually the score that got
dropped. Martin also made a
number of mistakes in his MX2
qualification race that saw him
only finish ninth. This meant that
Cooper Webb
(4) chases The
Netherlands' Glenn
Coldenhoff. He got
by him only to fall
with less than two
laps to go.
