OFF ROAD ROUND 6 / SEPTEMBER 17-18, 2016 SPANGLER HILLS STATE VEHICULAR RECREATION AREA / RED MOUNTAIN, CALIFORNIA P72 KENDA/SR T AMA HARE & HOUND N ATION AL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES Both Ricky Brabec and Ivan Ramirez have a rally in their immedi- ate futures: the Oilibya Rally of Mo- rocco, which runs from October 1-7. Ramirez will then fly directly from Mo- rocco to Spain where he'll join Team Mexico on its Junior World Trophy team at the ISDE. Looking ahead farther, Johnny Camp- bell hinted that the JCR Honda squad will more than likely depend exclusively on the new CRF450RX on both coasts with Chris Bach again chasing the GNCC title and Ricky Brabec the Na- tional Hare & Hound Championship. Look for Trevor Bollinger to once again compete in GNCC's XC2 cat- egory on a CRF250R. The Chidester Transport Racing team enjoyed a huge weekend, with team owner Dallas Chidester calcu- lating that four of his riders wrapped up their class championships: Joe Wasson in FMF Pro 250, Tyler Lynn in Big Wheel (150cc, 12-15 years old), Ty Woolslayer (Junior Girls, 7-11 years old) and Dean Hawley (Vet C). Second in Open A at the Jackrab- bits was likely enough to wrap up that class championship for Grant Stat- ley and his Motoworld/DP Racing/ Precision Concepts YZ450F. The Purvines Racing Beta squad suf- fered through an off day. Nick Bur- son had a good race going, running as high as third before hitting a rock that put a race-ending hole in the stator cover of his 480 RR as well as damaging the fork. Axel Pear- son got a decent start but couldn't find his groove and settled for sixth place. After switching from the FMF Pro 250 class to the open Pros at the previous round, Damon Bush earned ninth Pro and 20th overall. Kyle Erickson made his first National as a Vet A memorable. He got a good jump off the start and found himself well inside the top 10 at the end of the bomb, after which he passed a few guys that he admitted, "I had no business passing," and found himself running third overall, by his estimate. Predictably, he wasn't able to hold off the Pros who hadn't enjoyed starts that matched his and he dropped back to 17th overall, which still gave him second Vet A in his class debut, second only to Ty Renshaw, who was 15th overall. Briefly... (L-R) Runner- up Elis Rael, winner (and class champion) Racer Fry and third-place Micah Mills celebrate on the Pee Wee podium.
