OFF ROAD ROUND 6 / SEPTEMBER 17-18, 2016 SPANGLER HILLS STATE VEHICULAR RECREATION AREA / RED MOUNTAIN, CALIFORNIA P70 KENDA/SR T AMA HARE & HOUND N ATION AL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES My Own Race: X45 JOE WASSON 1ST FMF PRO 250/7TH OA After dabbling in the series last year with some success, Joe Wasson decided to chase the entire H&H National series this year and ended up dominating the FMF Pro 250 class aboard his Chidester Transport Racing/Cycle City of Mountain Home/Fly Racing YZ250, unofficially wrapping up the championship with his win at Red Mountain, his fifth in a row. "I just started racing last year," he said. "It's been quite an accomplishment to win the FMF Pro 250 Champi- onship in my first go at it. I've been debating whether to go to 450s [next year] or not; it's still up in the air." He added, "My goal [all year] was to get on the podium on my 250." X124 JEFF TRULOVE 2ND FMF PRO 250/10TH OA Though he's raced only the National in Idaho this year, Jeff Trulove proved his speed is still there by improving on that third-place Idaho finish and earning second FMF Pro 250 aboard his 3 Bros./TBT Racing/Johnny Talarico KTM 250 XC. "I can't complain too much," he said. "Joe's been killing it all year and riding great. This is the best I've done so far in this class so I'm pretty happy. Towards the end of the race, my hands, they blew up and started getting real bad blisters. It was hard to hold on." 12 SAGE VINCENT 1ST OPEN A/1ST A/8TH OA AS Racing/Steve Kirk/Viewfinders MC RM-Z450 rider Sage Vincent made his national debut at the previous round where he won Open A and placed 11th overall. He followed that up with another class victory (giving him first A overall as well) at Red Mountain, improving to eighth overall. "I actually got to start on the front row—that made the difference," he said. (At the previous round, the narrow start and BLM rules saw Pros start on the first line and A riders on the second instead of the usual Pro/A combined wave.) "It was fun. I just ran out of juice towards the end. The last two loops, I started to get slower. Gary [Sutherlin] passed me on the second or third loop and then Axel Pearson just got me coming in right to the finish. It's cool being up near the front of the pack, but the starts get a little sketchy when the fast guys are all together. It's a little hairy!" Winner Tyler Lynn locked up the Big Wheel class championship. On Sunday, he took his YZ250 to fourth in the FMF Pro 250 class.
