APPEAL BOARD REVERSES
BRYAN SMITH DISQUALIFICATION
I
n a September 13
release, AMA Pro
Racing announced
that an independent
appeal board reviewed
the appeal of a tech-
nical protest filed by
Jared Mees against
Bryan Smith in the
AMA Pro Flat Track
Series, and made the
decision to reverse the
original penalty levied
by AMA Pro Racing,
and restore the finish-
ing position and points
earned by Smith at
the Central New York
Half-Mile.
Smith, who had pre-
viously been DQ'd at
round 12 of the series,
had his second-place
points restored, and
now leads the champi-
onship by three points
over Jared Mees.
The disqualification
originally came after
post-race tech inspec-
tion where Smith's rear
wheel was found to
be out of compliance
with the AMA Pro Flat
Track rulebook due to
