YORBA WINS GLEN HELEN WORCS R PM/KTM's Eric Yorba claimed his career-first WORCS Pro win at round nine of the Rocky Mountain MC World Off-Road Championship Series presented by Maxxis and Dirt Bike. Yorba became the fifth winner in nine rounds, which has been the most tightly balanced field in recent WORCS history. Maxxis' Yorba took the hole- shot and led every lap of the race. Blayne Thompson finished second ahead of Robby Bell, who took over the points lead with his third-place finish. Justin Wallis and Justin Jones rounded out the top five. With temperatures topping out at 105 degrees at race time, se- ries officials shortened the race slightly to ensure riders didn't get overheated. At the finish, though, it appeared Yorba and his RPM KTM could have run several more laps. "I finally got that monkey off of my back," said Yorba. "I've been working hard during the break, getting my training going. I knew it was going to be a long break. I had fun, but I still put in the work I needed to. I made a few little mistakes, but I'm glad I had enough of a gap to get the win." Thompson returned to compe- tition after suffering a punctured lung and ruptured spleen in a crash during the summer break. The runner-up finish marked his third podium of the season.
