Then came Andrea Locatelli (Leopard KTM), Aron Canet (EG Honda), Philipp Oettl (Schedl KTM) and Hiroko Ono (Honda Team Asia). Oettl had caught the pack and come through impressively. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Gresini Honda) had slipped off the back of it for 10th, with Niccolo Antonelli (Ongetta Honda) 11th. Erstwhile title challenger Jorge Navarro's nightmare con- tinued, with another crash from the leading group for the EG Honda rider. Mahindra's hun- dredth GP was equally fruitless, with Jorge Martin out of the race after a qualifying crash, Pecco Bagnaia off form and out of the points, and Silverstone hero wild card Stefano Manzi (his bike in Indian flag colors) down in 16th, out of the points. Binder now has 229 points. Bastianini takes over second on 123. Should Binder retain a 101-point advantage after the next round at Aragon, he will be unbeatable. Rossi took exception to the Spaniard's reply, when asked if Ros- si's lap-two overtake move had been too aggressive, at a track where pass- ing is notoriously difficult. It went like this. Lorenzo, to the assembly: "We can have different opinions. My opin- ion is that the overtake was maybe too aggressive … he didn't need to make this overtake, but it is his style. Other riders overtake more clean." Rossi: Shakes his head. Lorenzo, to Rossi: "It's true." Rossi: "Is not true. Try to look another time on the TV." Lorenzo: "If I don't put straight [lift] the bike, then I crash. Maybe you don't crash, but I crash for sure." Rossi: "I don't know what I have to say to him [Dani Pedrosa, who pulled a similar move to take the lead]. What must I say to Marc at Silverstone? He overtake me 10 times like this. You say like this. Is not true. You overtake always aggressive. Why you say me?" Lorenzo: "When?" Rossi: "At this mo- ment I don't remember—but if you check the tape, 100 times." Lorenzo: "Don't laugh. It's my opinion. Race direction will have another opinion." Rossi: "I don't agree." Lorenzo (to the assembly): "He didn't need to be so aggressive, but he will have another opinion." This writer's opinion, after "looking another time on the TV?" Lo- renzo left the door open, and should have seen him coming, and not have been taken by surprise. Control electronics could also take credit for the variety in this year's championship. Silverstone winner Maverick Vinales explaining: "For us Briefly... Brad Binder pounded on the last lap and nabbed the Moto3 victory.
