FENATI FINDS
A HOME?
M
oto3 bad boy Romano
Fenati has been thrown a
lifeline after his sacking from the
SKY VR46 team halfway through
the Austrian GP, and has signed
on with the Italian Ongetta Riva-
cold team for next year. It will put
the hot-tempered rider back on
a Honda, the marque on which
he won the first of his six GP
victories in his debut season of
2012. CN

with Romano

SIMONCELLI'S NUMBER-58 RETIRED
A
t the circuit bearing his name, the Misano
World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, the late
Marco Simoncelli's racing number 58 has been
retired from the MotoGP class, unless his family
decides otherwise.
The lion-manned former 250 Champion's
father, Paolo, was presented with an engraved
plaque bearing the number before proceedings
began at the San Marino MotoGP,
September 11, by Dorna boss Car-
melo Ezpeleta. At the same time,
Ezpeleta announced that Simon-
celli Senior's "SIC 58" racing team,
founded in the year after Marco's
fatal accident at Sepang, will be
accepted into the Moto3 class next
year.
The first number to be "retired" in
this fashion was "34," when Kevin
Schwantz quit midway through 1995.
