to end the season with a 1-1."
The final moto did make a
massive difference for the top
five in points, though. The top
four were all set prior to the start
of racing, but Bloss led Nicoletti
"We had such an amazing
run," Roczen said. "The last few
laps, I was just taking it all in,
and I enjoyed it. It was rough out
there, and it was warm, but I en-
joyed every lap of it. I was stoked
minutes into the moto. He got up
with a couple seconds to spare
before Tomac closed in, but he
had about 10 minutes of fight-
ing off Tomac at the end of the
moto. And he managed to do it,
finishing the day with a 2-2—by
far his best combined score of
the season.
"It started picking up toward
the end [of the season]," Bar-
cia said. "Unfortunately it didn't
happen sooner. I can't thank
my whole team enough. They
worked hard all year, just like
I did, and congratulations to
Andrew Short on a long career.
It was a good day. I rode strong,
and the fans here are always
awesome. The track was gnarly.
I got hit with a huge rock with
like six laps to go, and it kind of
dazed me a little, and I ended
up crashing in the back. I had
to fight for it. Eli [Tomac] was on
me. It was a decent year and a
great day."
Roczen led the final moto of
the season by 28 seconds as
he took the two-lap board, then
backed it down to win by 19
seconds over Barcia and Tomac.
Musquin came home fourth
about a minute behind Roczen.
Then came Anderson, Bisceglia,
Peick, Nicoletti, Noren and KTM
Canada's Kaven Benoit.
In the end, Roczen ended
the 2016 season with 20 moto
wins out of the 24 run, giving
him a more dominant season
than any racer in history out-
side of Ricky Carmichael and
James Stewart.
