annantonio for second.
Less than a second behind at the
end, Enea Bastianini (Gresini Hon-
da) had fought his way back to the
front of the pursuit group for fourth,
a second clear of Niccolo Antonelli
(Ongetta Rivacold Honda). Another
Honda, Jakub Kornfeil's Drive M7
bike, led a close group for sixth.
Binder's teammate, rookie Bo
Bendsneyder, was the first KTM fin-
isher, from Joan Mir (Leopard KTM),
Niccolo Bulega (Sky VR46 KTM)
and Jorge Navarro (EG Honda).
Binder still left with a 61-point
lead over Navarro, 179 to 118.
Bastianini (94) took over third from
the absent Fenati; Bagnaia dropped
to fifth after crashing out for zero
points. CN

MCPHEE'S DAY OF DAYS
The smallest class was as lively
as Moto2 was dull, and equally
drenched. And with a surprise win-
ner. John McPhee (SaxoPrint Peu-
geot) was the first Scotsman to win
a GP since Bob McIntyre in 1962.
A little bit of history also for
Mahindra, makers of the rebadged
Peugeot, with Jorge Martin (Aspar
Mahindra) finishing second—a one-
two for the MGP3O.
It was all at the expense of run-
away title leader Brad Binder (Red
Bull KTM). He'd claimed pole in the
dry but took a couple of laps to get
going on the streaming track, taking
over the lead from Martin on lap six.
McPhee came with him, and contin-
ued to stalk him as they opened up
a little gap.
Aron Canet (EG Honda) was now
harrying Martin, while fellow-rookie
Khairul Idham Pawi, winner of a
wet Argentine race, was barreling
through from 28th on the grid. The
Honda Team Asia rider was up to
third by lap 10, now three seconds
adrift of the leading pair, but would
last only four more laps before slith-
ering off.
By then, Canet had also crashed
out, while Gresini Honda's Fabio Di
Giannantonio had now moved up
onto Martin's back wheel.
Up front Binder now had a little
gap on McPhee. Then it was all
over, as he lost the rear as he
touched the throttle exiting the first
corner on lap 15—his first non-finish
of the season.
This left McPhee in control while
Martin managed to fend off Di Gi-
