MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 11 / AUGUST 20, 2016 BUDDS CREEK RACEWAY / BUDDS CREEK, MARYLAND P60 My Own Race: 17 COOPER WEBB 5TH 250MX (6-3) "Moto one was tough," said Cooper Webb of his race. "Went down in the first turn; I crashed again in the first lap, then just put my head down. After that, I told myself to chill out and do whatever you can do. The track was a little hard to pass on, so I knew I had to make my passes stick. I was pumped to come back to sixth. Felt like I had a moto win in me. Moto two, Alex and I locked bars and almost went down and another bad start. Put my head down again and do the best I could. I was able to make some late passes and held off Alex. The day wasn't that sweet." 16 ZACH OSBORNE 1ST 250MX (4-1) It might've been long in coming but Zach Osborne finally collected his first overall victory in the U.S. After finishing fourth in the first moto, Osborne made an aggressive pass on Austin Forkner to take the lead in the second moto, which he held onto the rest of the way. The second-moto win ensured first overall for the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Team rider. "In the first moto, I got into fourth behind Joey [Savatgy], I made the pass and he got me right back," Osborne said. "I kind of grenaded; I was too hot and felt like I didn't have a whole lot of spunk after that, so I just took a fourth. The second moto, I had a pretty good battle with Austin for about 20 min- utes." That's when he made a pretty aggressive pass on Forkner. "I felt like he was kind of taking it easy right there in that spot, and I got sort of close enough there and kind of forced the issue on the inside. It was a tough pass; that's racing. To win here 10 years later [after leading for the first time before fading] is gratifying, it's ironic, really cool—a lot of things. Got the monkey off my back." 94 KEN ROCZEN 1ST 450 MX (1-1) "Today was amazing," Ken Roczen said of his day. "I holeshot the first moto and won that. The second moto, I didn't get the greatest start but I snuck around the inside. Getting the championship with a 1-1 performance on the day—you can't ask for anything better. It truly is amazing. I tried not to talk about it during the week. I put it out of my head this weekend and just raced. I have the best program out there," he added comparing this championship to his first in 2014. "Any title is amazing, but I did have a lot of 1-1 performances this year, which makes it sweeter. Last year we had a lot of problems with me and the team, but we solved all that. That's what makes this title so sweet, how we work together now, to have the best bike, and [the way] I have myself prepared is amazing, because we didn't have that last year. Definitely a dream come true." 3 ELI TOMAC 4TH 450MX (6-2) Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac ran into trouble right away when he tangled with another rider in the first turn of the second moto. He rode great afterward to get sixth after starting near dead last. He was sixth at the start of the second moto but climbed to second. It wasn't enough to get him on the podium but it was enough to clinch second in the cham- pionship. "Today had its ups and downs," said Tomac. "My first moto started off okay until I made a mistake and tangled with another rider. We both went down and by the time I remounted I was basically last. I spent the rest of the moto with my head down doing damage control. Those situations are never what you want, but once you're in it, you just have to do the best with what you've got. The second moto obviously went much better. I'm upset I didn't make the overall podium but to lock up second in the championship is a good feeling."
