MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 11 / AUGUST 20, 2016 BUDDS CREEK RACEWAY / BUDDS CREEK, MARYLAND P62 214 AUSTIN FORKNER 3RD 250MX (5-2) For the fourth time this year, rookie Austin Forkner finished out the day on the 250MX podium. He fought for wins in both motos and nearly had won until getting passed by Osborne about the halfway point in the second moto. "I started up front with my teammates [Savatgy and Cianciarulo]," said For- kner. "I just paced them for the first half of the race before they began to pull away from me. I knew I had a decent gap behind me so I decided to relax and save some energy for the second moto, because it was so hot. I started in third once again behind my teammates, but made sure to charge right away and get by them as soon as I could." Unfortunately for him, he couldn't hold off Osborne who made a surprise pass on him though the rollers. 44 ADAM CIANCIARULO 4RD 250MX (2-5) Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Adam Cianciarulo probably wishes the championship is about to end, as he continues to get seemingly better with each race after suffering injuries that past few season. Cianciarulo nearly won the first moto, but a small fall while leading prevented that from happening. Another good start in the second moto led to a 2-5 for fourth overall. "Today was definitely a step in the right direction," Cianciarulo said. "I got two great starts today, which led to my best moto finish of the year—with a second place finish in the first moto. It felt great to finally break through and get up on the podium [second moto] again." 37 JOEY SAVATGY 9TH 250MX (3-DNF) Joey Savatgy, who was a title contender early in the season, had another tough day at Budds Creek. He couldn't catch Alex Martin or Cianciarulo in the first moto and settled for a promising third. He got off to a second-place start in the second moto, but the heat and humidity eventually got to him, as it did many riders before he pulled out. "I got a great start in moto one and felt like I could fight for the win, but a few little mistakes kept me from achiev- ing that," Savatgy said. "I got another awesome start in moto two, had me right up there with my teammates in the early stages of the race. It was really hot today and I think we all got tired out there. I'm happy with my first moto performance." 36 JUSTIN HILL 7TH 250MX (10-7) Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull KTM's Justin Hill is another rider who probably wishes the championship wasn't winding down yet. He recently returned from injury and is quickly working back up to speed. He got off to slow starts in both motos but managed to find speed later on. "I don't know why, but I couldn't really get going like I wanted to at the start," said Hill. "I was able to get it together at the end of the motos and put in my best laps at the end. I feel good and really looking forward to getting better starts next weekend." 32 MATT BISCEGLIA 11TH 450MX (9-12) Fill-in rider for the Yoshimura Suzuki Team, Matt Bisceglia had a tough day. Even though he qualified well and had some good starts, he couldn't parlay them into a top-10 finish. "I had a little bit of a tough day," he said. "I quali- fied sixth, which is the best I've qualified this year. I got the holeshot then crashed in the first turn and came back up to ninth. I got the holeshot again in the second moto and was riding good up until the halfway point, I kind of had the same problem as last week; I struggled with my hands. They were super raw and I just couldn't hold on."
