MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 10 / AUGUST 13, 2016 UNADILLA, NEW YORK / UNADILLA MX P68 fight his way by Bloss for second with Tomac on his tail. Although Tomac got close to Musquin, he never made a pass, and Musquin eventually pulled away to take sec- ond place in the moto, and over- all—but way, way behind Roczen. Roczen took the win 52 sec- onds over Musquin, then came Tomac, the rookie Bloss, Wilson (who was 11th in moto one), No- ren, Barcia, Nicoletti, Peick and Bisceglia. Short ended up 13th in moto two at his final Unadilla race. "We just want to be smart, bot- tom line, no matter how big the lead is," Roczen said. "We put in some intensity the last couple weekends and it definitely paid off. Our track is super rough where we practice on. My Soaring Eagle/Jimmy John's Suzuki got me off to a pretty good start. Got the holeshot, clear track, and I just went." Overall, Roczen won with a 1-1 over the 3-2 of Musquin, the 2-3 of Tomac, and then Bloss (7-4), Barcia (4-7), Noren (6-6), Peick (5-9), Wilson (11-5), Nicoletti (8-8) and Bisceglia (9-10). Roczen now leads the series by 63 points heading into Budds Creek in one week's time, which means that all he has to do to se- cure his second 450MX National Championship—and Suzuki's first since Chad Reed in 2009—is to lose 13 points or less to Tomac in Maryland. Considering that the worst Roczen has finished all sea- son is fourth place (when his forks deflated at Glen Helen), the odds are heavily in his favor. for third, and that's how they'd finish, with Roczen taking a seem- ingly easy win 13 seconds in front of Tomac, who had another 15 seconds on Musquin. Then came AutoTrader.com/Monster Energy/ JGR Yamaha's Justin Barcia, his teammate Weston Peick, Honda fill-in rider Fredrik Noren, BTO- Sports.com KTM's Benny Bloss, JGR's Phil Nicoletti, Yoshimura Su- zuki fill-in rider Matt Bisceglia, and Bloss's teammate Justin Brayton. In moto two, Roczen managed to get the holeshot while Musquin, his teammate Dean Wilson, Bray- ton, Nicoletti and Bloss battled near the front of the field. Tomac started nearly mid-pack and sat ninth at the end of lap one. On lap two, as the pack battled it out from third on back, Musquin made a costly error and went down on the steep uphill after "Screw U" (the track's steep, 180-degree, off-camber left turn). Thanks in part to his electric start, Musquin got going again in eighth, just behind Bisceglia and Noren. "You know, I had a great start," Musquin said. "Then I went down in the crazy spot. It was so steep, that hill. I was bummed and I was like, 'Oh man, that could have been over.' I didn't want to go all the way down and then turn around and go back up. I give my best. I tried to get back up [front]." He passed Bisceglia right away, then began moving to the front. Despite the fall, he still managed to stay in front of Tomac, which became key after the halfway point, when Musquin managed to Marvin Musquin survived a couple of scares and edged out Tomac for second overall.
