By then, the pair had out- paced the next-best bikes at a track with a deceptively simple layout and a massive emphasis on braking and acceleration. The Movistar Yamahas, especial- ly Jorge Lorenzo's, had looked threatening for much of the race, while the Ducati men saved fuel and tires. Andrea Iannone answered it with a daring on-the-grid tire gamble, and a race of careful tactics quite at odds with his hotheaded reputation. The result was his first pre- mier-class win, and the first for Ducati for six long years. The last man to do so, Casey Stoner, was in the pits to share a mo- ment that drove the long-denied Italian team wild with ecstasy. All except for Andrea Dovizio- so. He had led his teammate for a chunk of the 28-lap race, but was outfoxed at the end and beaten by almost a full second, SIX YEARS—SIX FOR DUCATI IN PROMISE WITH AT LONG LAST!
