MOTOCROSS
AUGUST 1-6, 2016
LORETTA LYNN RANCH / HURRICANE MILLS, TENNESSEE
P56
35TH AMA AMATEUR NATIONAL MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
sailing out in front. Redman got
around Jackson for good on the
last lap but took the checkered
flag six seconds behind the new
champ, Surratt.
There were many dramatic
moments through out the week;
too many to mention them all,
but one of the best was in the
Senior 45+ class. Honda rider
Terry Bostard led in points go-
ing into the final moto, but Jay
Wagner (KTM) had an outside
chance. As the two battled up
front right after the start, Wag-
ner, having just looked over his
into second and passed Hodges
for the lead two laps from the
end to take the moto win. She
finished out the week in second
with 4-3-1 results.
Hodges went 2-4-2 for third.
Ryan Surratt (Honda) and
Samuel Redman (Kawasaki)
went into the final College (16-
24) moto all locked up in points
for the title. Surratt got the all-im-
portant fast start, while Redman
found himself in third behind
Richard Jackson (Yamaha). Red-
man battled back and forth with
Jackson, while Surratt had clear
final moto tied on points (having
gone 1-2 and 2-1 in the first two
motos). The title was pretty much
ultimately decided on the start.
Jarvis blasted out into the lead
with Canfield completing the first
lap in fifth. Canfield quickly got
into second but the damage was
already done. Jarvis ran off with
the win (15 seconds ahead of
Canfield) and the title.
The Women (16+) All-Stars,
Brandy Richards (Yamaha)
was going for the sweep but
played it safe in the third moto.
She wanted no part of Hannah
Hodges and Kylie Fasnacht and
hung back in third, knowing that
would be enough to wrap up the
title. Fasnacht worked her way
Jordan Bailey (32) was one of the few riders to claim two titles. His came in
the competitive 250 B Limited and Schoolboy 2 (13-16) B/C classes.
