CHAMPIONSHIP, PRESENTED BY AMSOIL
VOL. 53 ISSUE 31 AUGUST 9, 2016 P51
RAIN, MUD, DELAYS,
HEAT AND HUMIDITY—
NOT TO MENTION
GREAT RACING—
LORETTA LYNN'S 2016
HAD IT ALL.
T
he 35th running of the
Rocky Mountain ATV/
MC AMA Amateur Na-
tional Motocross Champion-
ship, presented by AMSOIL,
is in the history books and
will be remembered for a lot
of reasons but perhaps none
more than the weather.
For the first time ever,
the start of the event was
delayed by heavy rain and
subsequent muddy condi-
tions, which aren't anything
new to this race, but creating
so much havoc right at the
start is. After a four-hour de-
lay Tuesday morning (the first
day of racing), and another
three-hour morning delay
Thursday, the MX Sports
crew fought hard and did
an amazing job keeping the
track raceable and getting
everything back on sched-
ule. A much drier second
half of the week (Thursday
afternoon on) allowed every-
thing to get back to normal
again, which included the
usual Loretta's heat.
