One of our most memorable covers ever. It featured Jimmy Weinert and
Tony DiStefano having a little fun at the Superbowl of Motocross at the
L.A. Coliseum. We described the photo: "Superballs—or, did Tony jam the
Jammer?" Can-Am's Jimmy Ellis took the win with 1-1-2 finishes and Pierre
Karsmakers finished second with a 2-4-3 in front of 73,000 fans. Weinert took
the championship… We covered the Wagner Cup World Championship Trials in
Gold Bar, Washington, where Great Britain's Martin Lampkin took the win just
ahead of American Marland Whaley.
