VOL. 53 ISSUE 29 JULY 26, 2016 P45 figured out some things in the heat on Friday and slowly picked away at it. I don't think I've ever made eight runs this good in one race. This weekend the bike was such a joy to ride." Hines ran the table in Denver beginning on Friday's late-night qualifying round when he broke the track record with a 7.161-sec- ond run. On race day, Hines opened with wins over Nitro Fish Buell's Scotty Pollacheck and Star Buell's Cory Reed. When weather conditions turned favor- able in the late afternoon, Hines was there to take advantage of it with a 7.151 run in the semi final round against Nitro Fish Suzuki's LE Tonglet before his final round win against Krawiec. With his 45th career win, Hines has now tied the late Dave Schultz as the winningest racer in the history of the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle class. That's an honor he does not take lightly. "It is historic but the next one will be the one that I look for- ward to the most," Hines said. "We all know that if Dave hadn't left us early he would have kept winning but if I can get to 46 and be the undisputed leader, that will be special. Hopefully, it will come soon." Kevin McKenna Hines defeated Eddie Krawiec (near lane) in the final.
