MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 8 / JULY 16, 2016 SPRING CREEK RACEWAY / MILLVILLE, MINNESOTA P78 My Own Race: 377 CHRISTOPHE POURCEL 4 TH 450MX (5-4) Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Christophe Pourcel put in two strong performances again at Spring Creek. He was third quickest in qualify- ing and two good starts helped him go 5-4 for fourth overall. "The goal is always to be consistent," said Pourcel. "I try to be strong in my motos and it's tough because there are so many good guys. It's tough to crack the top five. I'm just trying to do my own thing and get good starts and stay with the top five. We have a good thing going on now. It's just a matter of finding lines. It's tough to fight with those guys because they are so fast. Overall it was a pretty decent weekend for me, though." 37 JOEY SAVATGY 4 TH 250MX (4-5) Joey Savatgy, the early 250MX points leader, saw his title hopes slip away even further with 4-5 moto finishes. He was fourth after the first lap in the first moto but couldn't catch the riders ahead of him: Webb, J. Martin and A. Martin. He was second in the second moto when a mistake cost him a couple of positions. "Today didn't quite go our way," said the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Team rider, Sa- vatgy. "The first moto started off well with a good start but we couldn't quite catch the leaders. The second moto was better as I was able to make my way up to second until I stalled the bike." 20 BROC TICKLE 38 TH 450MX (DNF-DNS) It was not a good day for the Roczen's teammate Broc Tickle, al- though it was going okay until Westin Peick got out of shape right in front of the Suzuki rider in the first moto. "I really love Millville but was bummed how the day turned out, but it could've been a lot worse. I had a good practice and was looking forward to the motos. The first moto I was about 14th off the start. I made some passes and got into seventh, got up to [Weston] Peick about halfway through the moto, and he cross-rutted on this tabletop, I went to the outside and he cross-rutted and went across the track and I ended up landing on his head, and both of us crashed and both of us didn't race the second moto. It was a tough weekend for me. I will get checked out this week and make sure there is nothing too serious wrong with me." 1 JEREMY MARTIN 1 ST 250MX (2-1) "Today was good," Jeremy Martin said after grabbing his first overall victory of the year and the first at his home track. "When I got my first overall win at Daytona that was pretty cool but this definitely ranks up there. To win in front of the hometown crowd is pretty neat. The first moto was kind of like a yoyo. We were going back and forth. Alex would pull out, I would inch back up, then he would pull out. Then Coop' got me, and then those guys checked out a little bit, [but] I was able to get back up on them. At the end of the race with about five or six minutes to go, I figured out how to ride bike and tried to put in a charge, but with two laps to go, Coop' just rode it in to the finish. I was struggling a little bit with arm pump and Alex was walking away from me a little bit. I could hear the home-crowd cheering for us. I was bummed to see my brother go down with three laps to go, I really thought he had a chance to get his first win, I really thought he had it."
