MOTOCROSS
LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 8 / JULY 16, 2016
SPRING CREEK RACEWAY / MILLVILLE, MINNESOTA
P70
450MX
Roczen started out the weekend
at Spring Creek by setting the
fastest qualifying time of the day,
nearly two full seconds faster
than Monster Energy Kawa-
saki's Eli Tomac (2:10.040 to
2:11.965), and Tomac was more
than a full second faster than
third-placed Christophe Pourcel.
Then, after the gate dropped
in both motos, it seemed as if
Roczen was almost out there by
himself.
JGR Yamaha's Justin Barcia
snatched the holeshot in moto
one, and as the field headed
down the track's second long
straightaway, Barcia protected
his inside line, which blocked
Roczen from moving to the lead,
while Tomac went around the
outside of them both and took
over out front. Barcia continued
protecting his lines throughout
the entire opening lap, and by
the end of lap one, Tomac led
by four seconds, while Roczen
found his way into second just
before the completion of the
opening circuit.
But with nearly being two
seconds per lap faster, it didn't
Ken Roczen (94)
leads Justin
Brayton (10), Eli
Tomac (3) and
Benny Bloss (167).
