VOL. 53 ISSUE 28 JULY 19, 2016 P33 HEPLER WINS LITTLE BURR ENDURO G as Gas Factory U.S. riders Broc Hepler and Johnny Barber were back in action at the fifth round of the AMA Apala- chian Championship Enduro Se- ries, July 17. With temperatures in the mid-90s and 179 miles of trail, the 132 riders in attendance were put to a true test of fitness and endurance at the Little Burr Enduro. Hepler came out on top of the podium riding a new 2017 Gas Gas EC300. Gas Gas team manager Johnny Barber finished just outside of the top five with sixth overall. "Little Burr is one of the cool- est races to win for me with the history of the traveling trophy," Hepler said. "I've won this race four times in a row now but this year was one of the toughest. The trail was great but there was a lot of undergrowth that made if hard to push without taking some risks. I was impressed riding the bike stock with how well it ran and handled on the fresh cut single track and even in the rough beat up sections." This is the third consecutive overall win for Hepler in the Aces Series. Barber said, "This past week we received our 2017 bikes and I made a last-minute decision for us to race the new bikes stock to show just how good the Gas Gas EC300 is right off the showroom floor. Hepler now has the championship points lead with four remaining races. Special thanks to Dawn Hepler, as well as all of our amazing team sponsors!" CN DOUBLE FRONTFLIP DOES IT G regg Duffy made history as the first rider to successfully perform a double frontflip in competition during the FMX Best Trick event at the inaugural World Nitro Games at the Rice- Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah, July 17. Duffy made the trick look almost easy, though he certainly stuck the landing. The American headed a pair of Australians that round out the podium. Pat Bowden ended up finishing second with a frontflip Superman variation, with Josh Sheehan taking third after performan a double backflip Superman. New Zealand's Levi Sherwood took gold in the FMX competition, with Sheehan taking sec- ond and Japan's Take Higashino third. CN Factory Gas Gas rider Broc Hepler won the Little Burr Enduro in Ohio.
