MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 8 / JULY 16, 2016 SPRING CREEK RACEWAY / MILLVILLE, MINNESOTA P82 The GEICO Honda Team got more bad news leading up to the Spring Creek race when it's 450-class rider Justin Bogle said that he just wasn't ready to race following a couple of crashes the week before at South- wick. He is expected to return at Washougal but there is a chance he might sit that one out as well, prior to the two-week break in the season. Jordon Smith was also sidelined. The GEICO Honda Team rider suf- fered a shoulder injury at Southwick and needed at least another week off to let the shoulder heal. Like Bo- gle, he hopes to race Washougal. The Millville race, however, marked the return of the team's Tristan Char- boneau who broke his collarbone at the Glen Helen National. Charbo- neau went 21-20 for 22nd overall. Yoshimura Suzuki's Blake Baggett and Matt Bisceglia both missed the Spring Creek race. Baggett re- injured his collarbone at Southwick and will sit out the rest of the se- ries, while Bisceglia, who also got banged up at Southwick is expected return at Washougal. Jeremy Martin cited improved health and better forks for his re- cent top finishes. "Health is getting better and the bike is getting better, too," he said. "I went from air forks to spring…I've got it to where I like it to handle, and that was the best it ever felt in moto two. The last couple of rounds we've been making changes between motos to get the thing to feel better, to make it feel more com- fortable so I could ride more aggres- sively for 30 plus two." Honda's Trey Canard, Red Bull KTM's Dean Wilson, and Yoshimura Suzuki's James Stewart all made their return to action at Millville, but it was Canard who managed to make the most of it with a 6-6 for sixth overall. "It's good to get the feet wet again," Canard said after moto one. "Obviously, you want to do better than in the last moto, but we'll try to get a good start and get the HRC Honda back up on the podium." For James Stewart, it was his first race back in about a month, and his first race back since becoming a fa- ther a little over a week before Mill- ville. "It feels great [becoming a dad]. It's a special feeling. It's something that I've never experienced," Stewart said before the race. "I'm very tired. I haven't had much riding lately just because I've been in the hospital with him, but Tobias is doing good, so I'm just hoping to get out and have some fun today." Briefly... Trey Canard returned to action Millville and it didn't take him long to get back up to speed.
