MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 8 / JULY 16, 2016 SPRING CREEK RACEWAY / MILLVILLE, MINNESOTA P80 My Own Race: 7 JAMES STEWART 15 TH 450MX (10-DNF) "The first moto was all right," James Stewart said of his first race back. "I got an okay start, passed a few guys and got settled in. A couple of guys went down and I got 10th [which was] pretty solid. I was feeling it a little bit, I haven't been able to ride with all the stuff in my personal life going. The second moto I was out there trying, almost hit the deck two times, did a few more laps, kept trying. It got to the point where I pulled out and I was bummed out about that. [But] I know what I need to do, just more seat time. The track was tough all day, especially in the second moto. I just have to keep pushing through this. I did the best I could. I just need to rest up and get ready for Washougal. Washougal will be better for sure." 94 KEN ROCZEN 1 ST 450MX (1-1) "I took the first moto after battling with Eli," Roczen said of his day. "The second moto, we got off to a rough start, I almost went down and then the second turn, I bent my shifter really bad and missed shifts a bunch of times, it was pretty sketchy. I tried not to shift too much. I came off [the start line in the second moto] crooked a little bit, came together with Trey and almost went down. Then I think I dabbed my foot on the ground and bent my shifter back. From then on it was a bit of a struggle because my shifter was really close to my footpeg, so, on landing from jumps, I'd hit neutral and miss shifts a lot. I tried to stay in third gear a lot, but it would be too low rpm and would have to stay in second. I had to be careful on the jumps and not hit neutral. I'm a racer and my mind is just getting to the front. At first I didn't know what was going on, I missed shifts, almost went over the bars, I'm like 'what the hell!' And then I looked down and the thing didn't look right. From then on…I just tried to go where the others didn't and make passes. I was shifting but throttle back, click it in, made sure I didn't hit neutral. Played it safe." 3 ELI TOMAC 3 RD 450MX (2-3) Monster Energy Kawasaki's said his day "went well" but after his big win the previous week at Southwick, Tomac had to be disappointed with a third at Millville. "Today went well," said Tomac. "Our lap times in qualifying were good and we got off to a great start in moto one, where I was able to jump into the lead early. I made a small mistake at the bottom of the hill, which allowed second place [Roczen] to sneak by. I tried to fight back but made a few more mistakes, so I turned it down a bit to ride smoother. I didn't get as good of a start in moto two and by the time I worked my way into third, the leaders had already ran away with it. We'll continue to work during the week and try and go for the win again next weekend." 214 AUSTIN FORKNER 13 TH 250MX (6-17) A couple of crashes in the second moto ruined Austin Forkner's day. "The day started off really well after qualifying fourth," said Forkner of the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Team. "I got off to a pretty good start in moto one inside the top 10 and eventually made my way briefly into fifth before getting passed back and finishing sixth. The second moto, I got off to another great start but went down on lap two and fell all the way back to 22nd. I fought my way back up into 11th before crashing in the rollers on the last lap, but was able to salvage a 17th place."
