The ninth GP of the season
was much a race of two halves.
It started streaming wet, with
most riders choosing Michelin's
new extra-soft front tire, rushed
several laps, the veteran super-
star instead chose to soldier on
with his increasingly ineffective
wet tires on a fast-drying circuit.
The consequence was a distant
eighth place, and a further blow
row start and until the midpoint
of the 30-lap race, had seemed
set for a strong podium finish.
While his increasingly con-
cerned team was frantically
signalling "Box, Box, Box" for
Valentino Rossi's pit
was screaming at him
to pit for many laps.
If he listened to them
he may well have
finished much higher.
