up a crucial five-point lead in the
title as a result.
At the end of race two, it was
Corti who took the victory in what
was a performance full of rage after
what he saw as the injustice of race
one, besting Mathew Scholtz and
Sheridan Morias. But it was Herrin
who emerged the real victor as he
claimed the Superstock 1000 title
by finishing eighth on the road and
fourth in class.
Or so he thought.
Corti's team immediately protest-
ed the title-winning Meen Motors-
port machine, and Corti didn't hold
back when chatting to Cycle News.
"Our bike (Aprilia) is a real Super-
stock, and I think there is something
wrong with the Yamaha," said the
Italian. "We tested in Italy with this
bike and we beat the Yamaha so
easy, and I think the level of the
Italian rider is higher than this one
[American], so there must be some-
thing wrong with this bike [Yamaha]."
There were no irregularities
found with Herrin's machine and
he was crowned 2016 Superstock
1000 Champion. CN
