VOL. 53 ISSUE 27 JULY 12, 2016 P53
S
uzuki has jumped back
into the performance
off-road arena with the
RMX450Z. In 2009, Suzuki in-
troduced the first RMX450Z in
the U.S. but because of emis-
sions issues it was pulled off
the shelf before many people
could get their hands one. But
that was then and this is now
and the RMX450Z is back and
ready to hit the trails.
It's closely based on the
2017 RM-Z450 motocrosser
but tuned for off-road riding. It
has electric starting, full-func-
tion instrumentation, 18-inch
Excel rear wheel and enduro
lighting.
Suzuki also modified the
engine's intake, added an
easy-access hinged airbox,
and revised the cam profiles
for improved low- to mid-range
power delivery. The package
also includes a larger magne-
to-generator for battery charg-
ing and headlight power.
Curb weight is a claimed
272 pounds.
The RMX450Z joins the DR-
Z70 and DR-Z125L in Suzuki's
2017 off-road lineup.
