That was on the 15th of 16
scheduled laps, short of the two-
thirds distance required for a full
race. Results were taken from
lap 14, and a new 12-lap race
scheduled.
Hernandez was already out,
and not eligible for the restart.
Michele Pirro, again taking the
place of the injured Loris Baz on
the Avintia Ducati, had just pit-
ted, but could restart.
Luckier still was Andrea Ian-
none. The factory Ducati rider
had been obliged to start from
the back of the grid, punishment
for taking Lorenzo out at the
previous round in Catalunya, and
was up to fifth on lap 13, then he
also fell. But he'd remounted,
finished lap 14 in 17th, and could
therefore restart in a better posi-
tion than in the first race.
Rossi (Movistar Yamaha) had
qualified on pole, and was lying
third behind Andrea Dovizioso
(Ducati) and inspired wet-weath-
er specialist Danilo Petrucci
(Pramac Ducati), who took the
lead on lap 15, to no avail.
They occupied the front row
of the new grid. Second Pramac
Ducati rider Scott Redding (who
started race one from the front
row) led the new row two from
Marc Marquez and his Repsol
