MAMMOTH
ROUNDUP
A
fter the vets took over the
mountain last weekend, the
annual Monster Energy Mam-
moth Motocross in Mammoth
Lakes, California, kept on rolling
through the week, June 21-26,
hosting mini bikes on Tuesday
and Wednesday before the main
weekend of racing began from
Friday through Sunday.
Highlighting the mini bike
racing was GIECO Honda's
youngest recruit Carson Mum-
ford, as he dominated much of
the Supermini action aboard
his works CRF150R. While he
wasn't perfect in every moto,
the Simi Valley native managed
to take the overall in both the
Supermini (13-14) and Mini Sr. 2
(9-14) classes. Other notable rid-
ers during the mini racing were
Hunter Yoder, who took the
65cc Open Championship, and
Lance Kobusch, who won both
his qualifiers and the main event
in the Supermini (12-15) class.
Once the big weekend of
racing began, Yamaha's Bradley
Taft was the standout star, as
he took home the overall in all
three Pro classes held over the
course of the three-day week-
end. Taft rode the wheels off
his Yamahas, winning nearly
every moto he entered except
for one where Rockstar Energy/
Husqvarna's Michael Mossiman
took the victory in the first 250
Pro moto.
Carson Mumford
put the power of
his CRF150R to
good use on his
way to two overall
victories.
Kawasaki's Lance
Kobusch gave Mumford
a run, winning a moto
on day two.
