The Pro classes, though, didn't provide the
only exciting racing. The B classes were stacked
and gave the spectators some excellent battles
to cheer for. The most consistent racer over the
weekend was KTM's Max Markolf. The young
rider from South Carolina won the Open B class
and didn't finish outside the top-five in 250 and
450 B, turning in second- and fourth-place fin-
ishes, respectively. Monster Energy Kawasaki's
Jordan Bailey won the 250 B class, while Yamaha
rider Francisco Urrutia nabbed the 450 B win.

LANGLOIS WINS 2016 PIKES PEAK
INTERNATIONAL HILL CLIMB
C
orsica's Bruno Langlois has won the 2016
Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in a dra-
matic event in Colorado Springs on Sunday.
The Kawasaki rider bested Victory Racing's
Don Canet and Jeremy Toye in the overall rank-
ings, riding his Kawasaki Z1000 to a 10:13.106 lap
in extremely challenging conditions that included
sleet, water and snow on the racetrack's edges.
Canet took out the Electric class with his
second-place overall, clocking a time of 10:17.813
with Toye riding the Victory Racing Project 156 to
the Exhibition Powersport win with a 10:19.777.
It was a heartbreaking day for Cycle News' own
Rennie Scaysbrook on the Cycle News/KTM
North America 1290 Super Duke R. The Australian
qualified on pole by 3.9 seconds ahead of Canet
and looked set for a historic victory after leading
the first two split sectors, however he got into the
Elk Park section of the track too hot and hit the
Armco, crashing and losing a vital 20 seconds in
the process. Scaysbrook remounted and contin-
ued to charge to the finish, crossing the line a furi-
ous fourth and having to be content with second
in class and Rookie of the Year honors with a
10:28.407 pass.
Stay tuned to Cycle News for the huge feature
and video we will have from Rennie's perspective
of the race. CN
