IN THE WIND P20 INDIAN RETURNS TO FLAT TRACK WITH JARED MEES! I ndian Motorcycle has con- firmed it will re-enter the AMA Pro Flat Track ranks in 2017 in a full-factory capacity with Jared Mees as its star rider. Mees won the AMA Grand National Twins Championship in 2009, AMA Grand National Singles Cham- pionship in 2012, the unified AMA Grand National Champion- ship (GNC1) title in 2012, 2014 and 2015, and is the current X Games gold medalist, so he certainly has the chops to bring Indian back to racing glory. "I can't express how excited I am to be the guy to bring Indian Motorcycle back into the fore- front of AMA Pro competition," says Mees. "We will have a lot of work to do to develop a 100-percent-new race platform, but I'm committed and excited at what I have seen on the drawing boards and what the plans are for Indian Motorcycle Racing. This is history for the brand, and being a part of it is truly exciting for me and this sport." The factory Indian Motorcycle team has been developing a brand-new, dirt-track-specific, liquid-cooled V-twin race engine, dubbed the Scout FTR 750, in partnership with their Swiss- Auto subsidiary—whom they ac- quired in 2010. This is the same company that developed the MuZ 500cc two-stroke MotoGP machine that saw success in the hands of Dutchman Jurgen Van Den Goorbergh and Italian Luca Cadolora in the late '90s and early 2000s. "We are very excited to return to the AMA Circuit," says Steve Menneto, President of Motor- cycles for Polaris Industries. "We have established the new Indian Chief and Scout series as the cornerstones of our produc- tion lineup, and now is the time for us to return to racing in a big way. We know that fans of Indian Motorcycles have been antici- pating this announcement and can't wait to see Indian Racing back in action." Indian Motorcycles will race the new motorcycle at a circuit to be determined in 2016 in preparation for a full season of competition in 2017. CN Jared Mees will help get Indian back into AMA Pro Flat Track racing in 2017.
