IN THE WIND P34 JANOWSKI CELEBRATES SPEEDWAY GP WIN K jærgaard Danish FIM Speedway Grand Prix winner Maciej Janowski stormed to glory in Horsens, Denmark, June 11, but insisted: "We will celebrate after the year. There is still a lot to do." Janowski held off a ferocious chal- lenge by Aussie star Chris Holder to top the podium, with World Champion Tai Woffinden bagging third place to edge top of the FIM Speedway World Championship, level on 39 points with Holder. Janowski is just three points behind them in fourth place with 36, with American icon Greg Hancock third with 38. Following one of the tightest starts to a sea- son in recent memory, Janowski is taking noth- ing for granted after his second SGP win. He's determined to keep his head down and won't be celebrating anything for another eight rounds. "It was amazing," he said. "When you hear your national anthem for you, it is a very good feel- ing, but it's only the third SGP. There is still a lot to do and a lot of work for us. My team worked really well on Saturday and on Friday. We stayed focused all night. I made some small changes and that was it. I did my best and it was enough. I am so happy. It was a good result, but there are still many meetings to go. I want to stay focused and keep working how we worked in Horsens." Danish star Nicki Pedersen was excluded from the final after crashing with Woffinden in the first staging of the race. He is set for medical checks on his hand after suffering suspected ligament damage. The re-run saw Janowski chased all the way by Holder in a thrilling battle. "You could see how close the races that we had were," Janowski said. "There were a lot of lines. You needed to be focused on yourself and on your friends behind you. It was really tough." Holder was delighted to reach a third final in as many rounds. Despite managing just a point from his opening two outings, he ended the night in style and level with "Woffy" at the SGP summit. "I wasn't looking really good in the first two heats, but we made a change with the bike and it worked well," Holder said. "I can't complain about getting a few points and getting on the podium after a really bad start. I managed to get past 'Magic' [Janowski] in the final and he passed me back. We had a good little battle, but he got the better of me there at the end. It's only the third round, but I'm still up there and amongst it, which is good." Woffinden went to the top of the World Cham- pionship by virtue of having a higher SGP ranking than Holder following his 2015 title win. CN 1. Maciej Janowski (16) 2. Chris Holder (13) 3.
