ROAD RACE
MOTOAMERICA AMA/FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 6 / JUNE 12, 2016
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA/BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK
P72
Superstock 1000
The leading man of the Super-
stock 1000 class, Josh Herrin,
continued his speed at Barber,
as the Meen Motorsports Ya-
maha rider took a clean sweep
of both races to move a stellar
18 points clear over round-one
double victor, Bobby Fong.
HSBK Aprilia rider Claudio
Corti's weekend was one to for-
get as the former MotoGP rider
crashed out of race one and
only took eighth place in race
two (fourth in class), severely
denting his hopes of a maiden
AMA title in his rookie season on
American soil.
Herrin took the Alabama gold
ahead of Fong who scored a
double of second-place finishes
on the Quicksilver-sponsored
Latus Motors Kawasaki with
South African Matthew Scholtz
(Team Rabid Transit Yamaha)
and Danny Eslick (TOBC Rac-
ing Yamaha) each taking a third
place in races one and two,
respectively.
"That was definitely a really
hard two races," Herrin said
after race two. "Your fitness
definitely got tested for sure.
That was more about who
could last in the end than it was
who had the pace for sure. I
felt like giving up with like six
or seven laps to go and just
letting Bobby (Fong) catch me,
Through the
Alabama heat
haze, Josh Herrin
proved unstoppable
and now holds a
commanding lead
in the Superstock
1000 points
standings.
