him was in Argentina, when he
cost Ducati teammate Andrea
Dovizioso a safe second place.
Now a similar over-ambitious
lunge did for Jorge. After the
race Iannone denied any mis-
take, saying he had braked at his
usual marker, but "Lorenzo was
very slow at that point."
Race Direction saw it different-
ly, and Iannone will start the next
race from the back of the grid,
and takes two penalty points.
Lorenzo was livid, refusing
what appeared to be an apology.
"It's unbelievable that Iannone
made this mistake again, and
instead of saying sorry he asked
me if I had an engine failure or
something strange happening in
this corner. I thought it was his
fault, but he didn't apologize."
By then, both Dani Pedrosa
(Repsol Honda) and Maverick
Vinales (Ecstar Suzuki) had
outpaced the fading Yamaha
rider. Pedrosa, the only top rider
to choose a medium rather than
hard rear tire, had lost touch with
the leading pair fighting off sev-
eral headstrong attacks "in the
wrong place" from Vinales, but,
"at the end my pace was not so
bad," and he felt he could have
played a part in the front battle.
With Vinales a secure but ulti-
mately distant fourth, the depar-
Eugene Laverty (50) holds out Stefan Bradl and Michele Pirro.
Black shirts, as
seen here on
Rossi, were worn
by all the podium
riders in each
class as a mark
of respect to Luis
Salom.
