he seventh round of the
MotoGP World Cham-
pionship was marred by
the death of Moto2 rider, Luis
Salom, in a practice accident on
Friday, June 3. Salom, his family
said, loved motorcycle racing,
and would have wanted the
Catalunya GP to go ahead with-
out him. Largely for this reason,
the race avoided cancellation.
Luis would have loved the mo-
torcycle racing on Sunday. It was
a feast, with three magnificent
victories immediately dedicated
to the late Spanish Moto2 rider's
memory.
Sunday's MotoGP race was a battle to
remember between Valentino Rossi and
Marc Marquez, and it was all in the name
of fallen comrade, Luis Salom.
For the second race
in a row, Marc Mar-
quez was beaten by
a Yamaha—only this
time it was Valentino
Rossi who led him
over the line.
